- In Yiddish. From the editor of Oyfgang [a journal for children] that is also signed by Joel Lazebnik, and stamped with the seal of the Central Committee of Jews in Poland (CKŻP, Centralny Komitet Żydów w Polsce). Says that 1,400 copies of the journal Oyfgang have been sent, and asking for remittance of the 50-cents per copy fee, to enable continued publication of the journal. Note: Three letters were originally kept together: 1. A handwritten letter from Lazebnik, 2. This note from May 15 from Oyfgang and the Central Committee of Jews in Poland, and 3. Rubin Saltzman's reply in June.
- Notes:
- The material from Poland shows post-war conditions and JPFO fund raising and relief efforts.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
