- Description:
- In Yiddish. Three Letters were originally kept together: This letter from Joel Lazebnik, 2. a note from May 15 from Central Committee of Jews in Poland (CKŻP, Centralny Komitet Żydów w Polsce) that 1400 hundred copies of their monthly publication Oyfgang have been sent, and 3. Zaltsman's reply in June. This note has numbered points. 1. The celebrations were beyond expectations. Sending articles about them. 2. Projects have been distributed according to the plenary(?) at the recent congress. We want them also to prepare a project about social assistance. 3. Max has traveled to a long list of countries. He should return on the 20th, energized and feeling better. 4. Sending 5000 books c/o L. Kingsley; 177 William Street. 5. Have gotten two of the three photographs. When the third comes will ship all three. 6.This appears to be about the "Joint" readying itself to sever ties. Lazebnik fears they will have to put out an S.O.S. The community in Poland may have to rely more on associations of Polish Jews in New York, Chicago, etc. for help. 7. Concerns a comrade who had an operation and has been in the hospital for 8 days. 8. Been given a gift of ten thousand books for the children's homes. 9. List of needed supplies for linotype machine. 10. Appears to be asking him to call (or call on) someone on his behalf.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
