Poland - Description:
- In Yiddish. Translated Summary: Letter from Rubin Saltzman to Joel Lazebnik of the CKŻP, Central Committee of Jews in Poland. Translated Summary: "Received your two letters and picture. Was not able to reply promptly because I was on a five-week trip over the length and breadth of our country in order to convincingly deliver my report concerning my trip to Europe..." Will unfortunately be unable to attend the ceremonies around the (Warsaw ghetto) monument, but will send a representative. Has not yet been able to resolve the matter of the books, nor has he yet received the photograph. Note. Three Letters were originally kept together: 1. A handwritten letter from Lazebnik, 2. a note from May 15 from Central Committee of Jews in Poland (CKŻP, Centralny Komitet Żydów w Polsce) that 1,400 copies of their monthly publication Oyfgang have been sent, and 3. This, Saltzman's reply in June.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
