Enos T Throop Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York administering the Government thereof
To the Sheriffs of the counties of Oneida Madison Otsego Chenango and Broome:
Whereas it appears to me by the report of the agent of the State Prison at Auburn that there is now in that prison a greater number of convicts than can be confined in separate cells and by a report from the agent of the State Prison at Sing Sing that there are unoccupied cells in the latter prison.
You are therefore hereby ordered in pursuance of the authority vested in me by Statute to transport to the State Prison at Sing Sing all such convicts as shall be hereafter condemned to imprisonment in the State Prison in your respective counties until this order is revoked or modified or other provision in the premises be made by Law.
In testimony whereof I have here-unto subscribed my name and affixed the privy seal at the city of Albany this eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty.
