This is an invitation to Enos T Throop from Augustus Benjamin Fitch and Eliza Hatch Pitkin. Pitkin was the daughter of Eliza Hatch (half sister of Governor Enos T Throop) and the judge William B. Rochester. Prior to marrying Rochester, her mother was married to Gershom Powers who was instrumental in establishing the Auburn System of penal discipline. See also the Letter to "E T Throop from AB Fitch" in this exhibit for how these personal relations shed light on the connections between various 19th Century reform movements.
