- Description:
- This is a heavily damaged section of Parthenon metope South 30, preserving the muscled human torso and horse hindquarters of a slightly reared centaur who extends his incomplete (in the original) right (proper) arm behind him, and whose cat skin garment billows behind him. His head is missing in this cast (see ID no. 503). Also preserved here are the right forearm and hand of the Lapith who attempts to defend himself from the creature, and portions of the Lapith's drapery.
