- 74 x 190 x 55 (centimeters, height x width x diameter)
- Description:
- This is a heavily damaged cast of fig. A from the west pediment of the Parthenon, a reclining nude male figure who has frequently been identified as a river or stream of Athens, perhaps the Ilissos, the Kephisos, or the Eridanos. The figure's body is curved up and originally was supported by the left arm. His right leg is bent up. A long garment drapes over his left arm and behind him to rest on his right knee. In the original the figure is missing his head, most of his right arm and right lower leg, the left hand and left foot. Here, the entire right arm and shoulder are missing, the left arm is missing from the elbow down, and the chest has been smashed away to just above the belly button, exposing the hollow interior of the upper body of the figure.
