- This is a damaged cast of a statue of Dionysos from Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli. The god stands with his weight on his right leg with his left, bent at the knee, resting back. Next to his right thigh is the narrow trunk of a tree. His torso is curved slightly and his right hip juts out. An animal skin is slung over Dionysos' right shoulder and falls across his chest. He perhaps held something in his slightly raised right arm
his left arm is lowered. He turns his head to his right, tilts it down, and looks down with a soft expression on his face and parted, full lips. Eyelids are heavy and irises and pupils are incised. The god's wavy hair is parted in the middle and twisted at the sides into a long pony tail at the back of the head. The statue is a classicizing work of the 2nd c. CE that was heavily inspired by works of the 4th c. BCE. The right arm of the cast is broken away. The fingers of the left hand are broken off, but the index finger is preserved. - Notes:
