- This is a well-preserved cast of a limestone reclining lion from the Altis in Olympia. In the original the animal is missing most of his back legs, parts of his front legs, and his face from below the upper nose. He is long and lean and lies hunched on all four legs. The lion's heavily stylized, flat-lying mane is depicted in the form of fish scales. His ears are back and his eyes and open mouth are outlined in a series of ridges, creating a menacing effect.
