- Description:
- This is a well-preserved cast of a damaged, heavily weathered kore said to be from Paros and now in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Missing in the original statue are the head, lower arms, and lower legs. It is heavily weathered. The bent left leg is slightly forward. Wavy locks of hair fall at the shoulders and along the upper back. The lower part of her chiton is tight across her legs. She wears a short himation over her right shoulder (falls under her left) which falls in thick folds in an inverted v-shape over her waist. Her belt is visible under the cloak. The original of this statue was acquired by the Metropolitan Museum in 1907. The cast in Cornell's collection was probably made after that date.
