- Description:
- This is a well-preserved cast of a relief slab from the frieze above the cella of the Nereid Monument from Xanthos, a tomb built for the Lycian ruler Erbinna, showing men at symposium. Here, eight men in himations recline on four couches. The men converse grouped in pairs. In the foreground, two attendants wearing belted chitons, one walking toward the viewer's right and the other toward the viewer's left, attend to the men. The attendant on the viewer's left holds a rhyton.
