- Description:
- This is a well-preserved cast of South XLIV, which is damaged in the original, showing parts or all of five herdsmen escorting sacrificial cattle to the right (viewer's). Fig. 132 is represented by his leg, which is in the lower left (viewer's) corner of the block. Fig. 133, foregrounded and wearing a himation that does not cover his upper chest, turns to look behind him at the commotion with the bull on South XLIII. He is posed in a combination of frontal and three-quarter views, with his legs largely in profile. His head is badly damaged in the original. His right arm is bent in front of him to pull on the restraints of the bull he escorts. Fig. 134, draped from the neck down, stands at the bull's left flank and looks ahead. Much of his body is obscured by the animal and his face is weathered or damaged (in the original). The bull pulls its head upwards, perhaps in protest or in reaction to the anxiety of the bull on the preceding block. Fig. 135 also wears a himation and turns his head to look behind him. Much of his torso is obscured by the overlapping bull. His head is in profile, his shoulders and the upper part of his chest are posed frontally, and his lower torso and legs are between a three-quarter and profile view. Fig. 136, at the far right of the block, is all but obliterated in the original. He is preserved in his outline, lower drapery, and lower legs.
