- Description:
- This is a cast of North VI, a relatively well-preserved original, showing four young male hydriaphoroi (water jar carriers) draped in himatia and processing towards the left (viewer's). Figs. 16-18 carry large hydriai (water jars) on their left shoulders and bend their right arms up and back over their heads to hold onto the vessels' handles. Figs. 16 and 17 also bend their left arms up to help support the heavy load, while fig. 18 bends his draped left arm at a right angle at his waist, clenching his fist. Fig. 19 is depicted in lower relief. His head, right shoulder and arm, and left hand are visible from behind the figure who follows and overlaps him. He has stooped down to set his water jar on the ground. He holds it by the handles and appears to be about to hoist it back up. The forearms, flute, and some drapery of fig. 20, primarily contained in the extremely fragmentary North VII, are also visible at the far right of the block.
