- Description:
- This is a well-preserved cast of West VIII depicting a bearded man, identified as a cavalry commander, and his horse, moving towards the viewer's left. Fig. 115 wears an animal skin cap, an exomis, and a chlamys that billows up behind him. He raises his left arm up and back, bending it at the elbow. The man braces his right leg against a rock in a seeming attempt to control his foregrounded horse, who rears up excitedly and attempts to bolt forward. The head of fig. 115 is now missing on the original stone, but can be restored from a cast taken by Elgin, as it is in this cast.
