These plates are extra-illustrations for a copy of Notices of Brazil in 1828 and 1829 written by the Rev. R. Walsh and published in 1830. Twenty-nine of the original watercolors are published in Aquarelas de Richard Bate (Rio de Janeiro: Galeria Brasiliana, 1965).
