- Description:
- Descriptive note printed on verso: "St. Mark's Cathedral with the Bell Tower and an arch of the Procuratie nuove: It is to be seen the façade of the Cathedral built in the Xth and XIth centuries in Byzantine style. At the right the great bell tower 313 engl. feet high, begun in the X th century. An arch of the Procuratir nuove, frams [sic] the picture." The campanile of San Marco collapsed spontaneously on July 14, 1902, after this photograph was taken. A replica has since been rebuilt on the same spot.
