- Description:
- An inscription on the mount for this image states the following: "A group of capitals in South Porch, St. Alban's Abbey, Herts. by W. Plows & Sons, 1883. W. Plows, Marble Works, Architectural Modeller & Carver, Shepherd's Lane, Brixton". Lord Grimthorpe funded the restoration of the Cathedral and Abbey Church of Saint Alban in Hertfordshire between 1880 and 1885, which included the rebuilding of the fronts.
