- Description:
- The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is in the Place du Carrousel in Paris, just beside the Louvre. It was built in 1808 by Napoleon I to commemorate his victorious battles. The horses in the quadriga were from the Basilica of San Marco in Venice, but have since been returned. This is a view from the west, or Louvre side, taken from the site currently occupied by the I. M. Pei pyramid.
