- Description:
- A. D. White inscribed the mount of this image as follows: "Corbel from the Cathedral of Troyes--now at Cornell University. It was taken from pier in choir at right of high altar and brought home by ADW." A further inscription indicates that White's note was transcribed onto a library card. White describes the experience of buying photographs and the corbel in question from the official photographer at Troyes in his autobiography [Andrew Dickson White. Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White, Vol. I (New York: The Century Company, 1905), pp.375-376]. See transcription: http://rmc.library .cornell.edu/adw/Troyes.html See also: 15/5/3090.00276
