- A descriptive note on the reverse of the image mount states the following: "Southern Façade of St. Mark's Cthedral and the Doge's Palace: This façade ornamented with 60 columns of the riches marbles is divided into two great arches, one larger than the other both as regard the upper and the lower portions. Under the first arch to the left is the façade of the Zeno Chapel ornamented with four Corinthian columns in the Lombard style, a work of the 16th century
before the entrance are two quadrangular columns of the 6th century which were brought here from the temple of St. Saba, at Ptolemy (St. Jean d'Acre) in 1256 by Lorenzo Tiepolo who was crowned afterwards Doge (1268). The doge's palace in the ogival style architects Giovanni Bartolomeo and Pantaleone Bon in 1424." - Source:
