- Description:
- Baron Meyer de Rothschild commissioned Joseph Paxton and George Stokes to build Mentmore Towers in 1855. Rothschild furnished the mansion with a superb collection of paintings and decorative arts. His only child, Hannah, inherited Mentmore after his death in 1874. She married the Arc hibald, the fith Earl of Rosebery in 1878, and died in 1890.
