- Description:
- A. D. White's inscription on the reverse of the mount: "Corbel from the Cathedral of Troyes--now at Cornell University. It was taken from pier in choir at right of high altar and brought home by ADW." A further inscription indicates that White's note was transcribed onto a library c ard. White describes the experience of buying photographs and the corbel in question from the official photographer at Troyes in his autobiography [Andrew Dickson White.
