- Description:
- Most common Bengal temple type, esp. in Hooghly, Howrah and the 24 parganas. At (eight)-chala temples have triple entrances giving onto a porch. Roof can be straight-edged pyramidal or rounded. Example: Krishna-Raya temple at kanchrapara. Mid 19th C.
