Ashokan Pillar - Image View Description:
- Ext. det.: South gateway from Southeast
- Description:
- Initially a brick structure housing the bodily remains of the Buddha. Later expanded to its present size and cased in masonry. Dates: mid 3rd-mid 1st C. BCE. Built by Ashoka and subsequent kings of Mauryan dynasty.
