Description:
First referred to as “bastide” in 1269/70. Earlier referred to as “castrum” and “villa.” Grid of square and rectangular blocks on steep hillside 13th & 14th century arcades on the market square. Many 13th century Stone & 15th century half-timber buildings. Extensive network of straight, steep & narrow carreyrous in many blocks.
