- Description:
- This is a cast of the nude upper torso and head of the standing, semi-nude statue of Aphrodite discovered in the Amphitheater at ancient Capua and known as the Aphrodite of Capua. Her head is turned towards her left and she casts her gaze down. Her wavy hair is twisted up at the sides and tied in the back and she wears a diadem. In this bust the arms are cut just below the shoulders and the torso is cut a small ways below the breasts. This cast was made after restorations were made to the original in 1820 including, most notably for this bust, to the nose.
