- Looking over a battlement with four cannons and a dozen men. The battlement crosses the frame from top left to lower with corner, above it is misty and indistinct. The men are all dressed alike in white shirts and dark pants, bareheaded, and they are sitting and standing along the crenels (the gaps). Low, black cannons poke through some of the crenels, but the men are not shooting them, and no cannonballs are visible.
