- Description:
- The Comstocks sit on a bench behind a leafy, flowering bush, along a path in their garden. The Comstocks are both older, light skinned people. Anna, on the left, is wearing a white shirt and hat, with a red bow at the collar. Henry, to the right, is wearing a grey three-piece suit with a maroon tie, and a light colored hat like a straw boater. The sun is coming from almost directly overhead and neither looks at the camera. A tall yew is behind them to the right, a shrub and a tall structure (maybe a birdhouse or a lamp?) are at their left. The sky overhead is light blue with a pattern of mauve dots from the color process.
- Notes:
- The 'John Henry and Anna Botsford Comstock papers' collection contains 6 autochromes, one of the earliest forms of color photography, featuring the Comstocks and their garden.
