- Notes:
- One of a series of maps intended to show Germany's vulnerability to air attack and therefore to argue for relaxation of the restrictions on rearmament imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. For background, see Notes to ID #1243.04 (Gauss). This map shows the ranges of aircraft from Poland, Czechoslovakia, France and Belgium, superimposed on a map with symbols marking principal centers of German industry.
This map appeared in editions of the Putzger atlas, which dates originally to 1877. It "is considered 'the' historical school atlas of Germany and Austria and boasts one of the highest print runs in the world." (Herb 1997, 97).
