- Notes:
- The suffrage map had become so important by 1915 that the National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage issued this broadside devoted entirely to an attack on the map. Using graphic figures of (male) voters in proportion to the population of each state, the broadside proclaims POPULATION VOTES - NOT AREA. "The suffragists fail to tell their audiences that the entire population of those eleven woman suffrage states is about 900,000 less than the population of the state of New York."
The date is estimated; the map could have been issued in late 1914, but was likely produced during the 1915 Empire State Campaign (See, e.g., Utica Observer, July 28, 1915, p. 5 "Population Votes, Not Area; Suffrage Map a Fraud", http://fultonhistory.com/newspaper%202/Utica%20NY%20Daily%20Observer/Utica%20NY%20Observer%201915%20pdf/Utica%20NY%20Observer%201915%20-%201640.pdf, accessed December 26, 2014).
