- Description:
- Portrait of 77-year-old French painter Pierre Bonnard, writing or drawing at a narrow bamboo table. Bonnard is facing the camera, which is across the table from him, but he is looking down at his work. He wears a light-colored bucket hat, round-eyed spectacles, a suit and tie, and silky-looking scarf. On the table are the stack of papers he's working atop, a bottle of ink, and some cups and brushes. A few small drawings are propped up behind him. All the light is coming from near the camera on the left side of the frame, as though a window is just out of view.
