- Workers at the Pemberton Mill in Lawrence, Mass., grouped outside the mill. Most of the workers are standing in front of the mill, but others can be seen in the windows, on top of the porch of the three-story building in the center, and some on the fire escape platform outside a four-story window of the building in the rear. There are a number of children in the crowd. The Pemberton Mill was rebuilt after the collapse of the previous mill in January 1860.
