- Description:
- This is a cast of a small Egyptian seated figurine which, according to its listing in the 1911 Caproni catalog, is housed in the Louvre. The male figure is seated, wrapped as a mummy, and holds a crook and flail across his chest. He has a beard at his chin and wears a disc and crescent headdress. A uraeus sits above his forehead. His body is very thin in profile. The figure should probably be identified as Osiris as combined with a lunar deity, or Osiris-Iah. The cast has been painted black, likely to replicate an original in bronze. The original from which this cast was taken remains to be identified.
