- This is a cast of the head from a diorite statuette of Gudea of Lagash housed in the University of Pennsylvania Museum. Gudea wears a headress with a wide edge and regular rows of round studs. He looks ahead with the upper and lower lids of his eyes indicated by thick relief lines. His thick eyebrows, incised with a chevron pattern, meet above his nose to form a v. Gudea's lips are small but full. The original is broken from below the chin and has sustained slight damage to the chin and headdress. The cast has been painted black to approximate the appearance of the diorite original. Insignia in circle at base reads "UNIVERSITY MUSEUM PHILADELPHIA COPYRIGHT 1936".
