This map is in a slim pamphlet by a Lithuanian doctor describing the horrors she and her family suffered in Soviet concentration camps above the Arctic Circle from 1941 to 1953. It originally appeared in a Russian collection of similar memoirs published by dissidents in 1979 and was subsequently translated into Lithuanian and English.
For background information and other related maps in the collection, Search > "Gulag." Cornell University Library is pleased to present this digital collection of Persuasive Maps, the originals of which have been collected and described by the private collector PJ Mode. The descriptive information in the “Collector’s Notes” has been supplied by Mr. Mode and does not necessarily reflect the views of Cornell University.
