- Model - View of Dwelling Units and Community Center
- Description:
- Design a low-cost, low-rise complex of 162 one-bedroom units and a community center. The site was in an existing residential area adjacent to a commercial zone and a major highway. Project not built.
Set in a contained urban garden, each identical unit had interior and exterior privacy and were arranged in different combinations, within a grid, to create a variety of exterior spaces for group uses. Economy was achieved through repetition of construction units and use of low cost materials for all structures. Deciduous shade trees in formal arrangement were used to reinforce the character of the individual group spaces and the pedestrian movement throughout the complex. - Format:
