- Description:
- Atypical end scraper. Light-grey to tan flint. Produced by pressure flaking on a blade, with the distal end flaked on the dorsal surface to form a slightly concave scraper
the proximal end and the sides of the blade are flaked primarily on the ventral surface, partially removing the original striking platform. While the distal-end scraper is well made, the other flaking is unusually rough and irregular, and may have been the result of battering (e.g., use as a wedge) rather than intentional flaking. In general form, this type of tool is typical of the Upper Paleolithic, but could have been produced and/or used any time from then into the Neolithic. - Bibliography:
