- Description:
- Blade fragment of a large, high quality, flaked stone dagger. Light- to medium-grey flint. Very finely pressure-flaked, with ribbon-flaking along both edges
thin lenticular cross-section. 19th-century handwriting, now partly obliterated, read "Ronde[?] / Jylland / [22 or possibly 78]". The original blade would have been a large and well made example, leaf-shaped, tapering at the base to a thickened handle probably of fish-tail form. The beginning of the taper to the base is just evident at one end of this fragment. This fragment is from a "Type-IV" dagger, probably a "Type-IVD", the very finest of the Danish Neolithic daggers. - Bibliography:
