- Description:
- A Korean woman is shown in fine Korean traditional costume. In the 1900s married woman of noble birth usually wore a 'chogori' (short jacket) and a 'chima' (long skirt). A married woman (as opposed to unmarried women) had her hair up in a 'jjok', which is a kind of rolled-up knot with a hairpin. eIn 1898 a campaign was launched against wearing the 'changot' or a coat-style veil. As they began to wear changot no more, they wore skirts tightly drawn over their jackets.' Source: Kwon, O-chang. Inmurhwaro ponun Choson sidae uri ot, 1998, p. 128.
