- Inscription on plaque reads: "Sumner M. Kirby Memorial Room - this room has been developed and furnished by Allan P. Kirby as a memorial to his brother Sumner M. Kirby, a student at Cornell University 1915-1917. 1966." The Sumner M. Kirby room was dedicated and furnished by Allan P. Kirby as a memorial to his brother for the undergraduate library of Cornell University, now Uris Library. The Sumner M. Kirby room provided additional study space for the expanding undergraduate library and was voted quietest place to study of all Cornell University Libraries by the Cornell Sun in 1973 [Sender, Bob.
