- Presented to Cornell University by the Cornell Hindustani Association, Febrary 28, 1949. A Gandhi Memorial Library was established in 1948 by the Cornell Hindustani Association and presented by C. K. Narayanan Nair, a Cornell graduate student, class of 1955 ["Gandhi," On the Campus and down the Hill, Cornell Alumni News, Cornell University, December 1, 1948, ecommons.cornell.edu/bitstream/1813/27532/1/051_07.pdf]. A fund was accepted by Cornell to be used for purchasing books about Gandhi following his assassination in 1948. Books purchased for the Gandhi Memorial Library were commemorated with a bookplate and included in Cornell University Library's circulating collection.
