- Description:
- Ostrander, John B. Dryden, N.Y. farmer who contributed young elm trees in 1880 to Cornell University. He wished to give something to the young University but had no money. They were planted along both sides of East Avenue, but are long since gone, victims of Dutch elm disease. The gift is commemorated by two red sandstone markers, engraved "Ostrander Elms 1880." One marker is near the eastern entrance of Stimson Hall, the other on the southeast corner of the Pew Engineering Quadrangle.
