- Notes:
- This unusual map appears to persuade the viewer to refrain from precisely the intended activity that led him to purchase it! It appears in a 1972 pamphlet, "San Francisco Streetwalkers Sex Guide," priced at $2.00, with maps of precisely where in various parts of the city's metropolitan area one might find streetwalkers. The centerfold map here shows the "Primary" and "Secondary" areas of such activity in downtown San Francisco, from Divisadero to Montgomery and Green to Mission Streets. The Primary Areas are marked in a bright red, matching the color of the large WARNING at the top concerning the "high crime rate" in these areas, including "a large number of assaults, robberies and thefts." Viewers are cautioned to "carry no more money than necessary," "leave valuable articles" behind, "lock your car and take the keys with you at all times."
