- Description:
- This elongated polychrome vessel is shaped like a gourd and is decorated with red, black, and white paint. It has a curled, gourd-like tail at one end and is rounded at the other. There is a small circular opening at the top with a short neck and a slightly everted rim. A small strap handle is attached on one side of the neck. The end of the pot with the curled tail is painted solid red (2.5 YR 5/6-red). A white vertical line encircles the pot marking the boundary between the red painted end and the remaining two-thirds of the vessel which is painted black (10 YR 3/1-very dark gray). The neck, rim, and strap handle are located in this black portion of the pot. White parallel lines are painted horizontally over the black area and all come togehter at a red point on the rounded end of the vessel. A line of white dots is painted in every other horizontal band. Much of the exterior surface of the vessel is smudged with black and is also discolored by what looks like a textile imprint (?)
