Paste: unknown temper, fine texture, low luster.
Surface Finish: Smooth areas show rubbing lines of fine abrasive
no slip, paint or decoration. Firing: color is uniform 5 YR 4.5/2.5, Hardness: 1+ ( 2) Because of the extremely soft nature of this piece it is doubtful that it was ever fired. Comment: It is possible that this piece is a hematite rubbing stone or bead that is now much weathered. - Bibliography:
