- This is a plaster cast of a statuette of an American bison (frequently referred to as a buffalo) originally produced in bronze by the Austrian artist Carl Kauba (b. 1865
d. 1922), who lived for a period of time in the United States. The animal stands on rough ground looking forward. His tail is down and he has a very pronounced beard, bulging eyes, and some missing patches of fur on his haunches. - Notes:
