- Description:
- This is a well-preserved cast of the head of a Late Period Egyptian pharaoh that has been identified variously as Amasis II of the XXVIth Dynasty or Nectanebo I of the XXXth Dynasty. The pharaoh wears a lightly striped nemes headdress with a uraeus at the front. His almond-shaped eyes look ahead and his full lips are turned up slightly to form a vague smile. Both ears and the lower portion of the nemes on the pharaoh's left side are damaged in the original, as here. The cast preserves restorations to the nose, lip, and uraeus that are no longer present on the original.
