- Description:
- This is a cast of the cylindrical, over life-size kore from a statuary group dedicated by Cheramyes at the Temple of Hera at Samos in the sixth century BCE. She is headless (in the original) and wears a long, belted chiton, a heavy himation over the shoulders, and an epiblema (shawl-type garment) that covers her back and part of right side. She stands rigidly, holds her right arm straight by her side, and folds her damaged (in the original) left arm across her chest. Her large toes project out from the bottom edge of her chiton.
