A large group of Samoans and Europeans seated on the steps of Robert Louis Stevenson's estate, Vailima, near Apia, Samoa. Later hand painting accentuates the bright colors of various garlands, necklaces, and foliage in the scene, as well as the whiteness of sailor caps and linen clothing.
