Two individuals stand along a dirt road, which is surrounded by palm trees and other vegetation, in Samoa. The Road of the Loving Heart was completed around 1894, in an effort to make Robert Louis Stevenson's estate of Vailima, on Mount Vaea, in Apia, Samoa, more accessible. This is a copy of a photograph, originally from the photo album entitled 'The Cruise of the Equator' of Robert Louis Stevenson's travels around the Gilbert Islands and Samoa in 1889, in the collection of The Writers' Museum, Edinburgh, Scotland.
